Blow molding is a manufacturing process used to create hollow plastic products. Understanding this process starts with recognizing its key action: it involves inflating a tube of heated plastic until it fills a mold. This is typically done in three main steps: first, a preform of the plastic is heated; then, it is expanded by air to take the shape of the mold; and finally, the molded product is cooled to harden into its final form.

Think of blow molding like blowing up a balloon. Initially, you have a small, soft piece of rubber (the preform). As you blow air into it, it expands and takes the shape of the balloon. Similarly, in blow molding, the heated plastic expands inside the mold until it takes on the desired hollow shape, such as a plastic bottle.

Blow molding is commonly used for producing plastic containers, bottles, and hollow goods, providing a cost-effective and efficient method for creation.

The blow molding process is widely utilized in manufacturing to create various products. This includes everyday items like water bottles, milk containers, and even larger products like tanks and automotive parts.
