5.2. State Pollution Control Boards (SPCBs)

State Pollution Control Boards (SPCBs) implement and enforce pollution control acts at state level (e.g., Water Act, Air Act, Environmental Protection Act).

SPCBs are essential government bodies responsible for enforcing environmental laws at the state level. They primarily enforce three significant legislation acts: the Water Act, Air Act, and the Environmental Protection Act. Each of these acts follows specific guidelines to manage pollution and protect the environment. SPCBs ensure industries comply with these laws, making sure they minimize pollutant emissions and treat waste properly.

Think of SPCBs as the referees in a football game. Just like referees ensure that players follow the rules of the game, SPCBs ensure that industries adhere to environmental protection laws. If a team breaks the rules, the referee steps in to enforce the rules, much like how an SPCB monitors and enforces compliance with pollution control regulations.
