He quickly identifies what's wrong with Tricki, the dog, realizing that overfeeding has caused its illness. Instead of being harsh, he combines kindness and a bit of humor to reassure Mrs. Pumphrey, helping her to gain confidence in his care for Tricki. Herriot’s priority is always the well-being of the animal, showing his dedication to his profession.

Imagine a doctor's role in a hospital. Just as a good doctor not only treats patients but also comforts their families, Mr. Herriot cares for Tricki while also considering Mrs. Pumphrey's feelings.
